		<description>Here is where I put ideas that don't really fit under any other bucket.

Text Me Later
My friends seem to have a sixth sense that tells them when I'm at a movie, because that's when they all text me. So I thought it would be useful to have a texting auto-reply app to launch right before the film begins (or conference, or dinner, or class, or date), with a customizable message depending on the situation. The black screen is designed to annoy as littles as possible inside a dark movie theater. My goal is to teach myself enough coding skills to develop this by the end of 2011.

		<description>From the time I turned 13, I worked at my dad's shop every summer, selling replacement parts for cars (mostly shock absorbers) to car repair shops. I still like to help around when I go back home, which got me thinking about this largely male-dominated industry and how it affected women as customers. As an experiment, I imagined Greaser Grrls, a car repair shop geared towards women, and its presence in the digital space.

The Greaser Grrls website functions as a dashboard for your car. Once you register as a customer and download the Greaser Grrls app, the shop will create a profile of your car to help you keep
track of it.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/website1_905.jpg" border="0" width="800" height="557" width_o="800" height_o="557" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/website1_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/mycar_905.jpg" border="0" width="800" height="600" width_o="800" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/mycar_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

The main screen features a prominent Emergency Call button, to be used in case the user's car breaks down. Using the iPhone's GPS, it also provides the Greaser Grrls' mobile unit with the user's location.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/main_905.jpg" border="0" width="800" height="600" width_o="800" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/main_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

Conversely, the app also provides the user with directions to the nearest Greaser Grrls location.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/directions_905.jpg" border="0" width="800" height="600" width_o="800" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/directions_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

The "Five things to check" section contains safety checklists as well as quick troubleshooting guides.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/5things_905.jpg" border="0" width="800" height="600" width_o="800" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/5things_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

A key-finder is included with the app as well.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/keys_905.jpg" border="0" width="800" height="600" width_o="800" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/keys_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

Visual recognition software —pre-loaded depending on the make and model of the user's car— helps identify all of the different parts under the hood by tapping on them, helpful when one needs to check the oil or add windshield wiper fluid.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/looking_at_905.jpg" border="0" width="800" height="600" width_o="800" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/looking_at_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

The app lets the user know when it's time to change the oil or tires or any of the many parts that tend to wear out, and provides a quick and easy way to schedule an appointment with Greaser Grrls to take care of whatever is necessary.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/oil_905.jpg" border="0" width="800" height="600" width_o="800" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/37523/1104246/oil_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; </description>

		<description>John Jay, Executive Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy, led a self-branding project with SVA students which aimed to emphasize the uniqueness and authenticity of each of us as individuals.

I love doing the dishes. I always have, it is a relaxing and grounding experience for me. When we met with John Jay, I had been reading Thich Nhat Hanh's The Miracle of Mindfulness, which made me realize that the reason I loved doing the dishes so much was because I was fully present, my mind nowhere but on the relatively mundane task of doing the dishes.

I bought two antique china plates at the Chelsea flea market, and hand-lettered the words "I am present" and in Spanish, "Estoy Presente" on them.

I knew that I would become an outsider moving to New York for college from another country, another language and culture. However, I unexpectedly became an outsider in Mexico as well. Coming to New York, I inserted myself into a culture that is much more open, where people have better defined goals and means of achieving them. I feel Mexican when I am in New York, and a New Yorker when I am in Mexico. And I am always acutely aware of this, always present.
Exchanging the broken pieces between the two plates describes how I belong to neither Mexico nor New York, but to both at once, in opposition to each other.

		<description>Tegu is an innovative toy company based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, founded by brothers Chris and Will Haughey with a mission to improve the lives of Hondurans. Tegu blocks are sustainably-sourced wooden blocks with magnets inside.

POKE New York created the Tegu Genius, a mysterious character who for three hours a day would take requests live via Twitter, building anything for his devoted viewers. The team, which included our two project leaders, two builders as the Tegu Genius, and my partner and I, had a lot of fun producing and managing the show daily.

My partner and I managed Tegu's Twitter account, taking requests and engaging in conversation with our viewers, finding related content and tweeting about it, and managing the original content we produced on Livestream. We also worked in a creative capacity, finding new activities and ways to keep our viewership engaged, including Honduras Day, when we presented social issues and facts about Honduras with Tegu blocks, and building a Tron Lightcycle when the Disney movie was released on December 17, 2010.

		<description>The new Young Guns cube would be revealed at the Young Guns 8 party at the Art Directors Club. The winners would cut their cubes from a pre-carved 18' hardwood plank from the Coney Island boardwalk, which was the evening's special surprise.

Once we had established a concept for the invitation, the challenge was to create a Photoshop type layer that could be modified for different applications without losing the look of type carved into wood.

		<description>When Eric Yaverbaum of Ericho Communications and Mark DiMassimo of DIGO realized that their online lives were in competition with their offline lives, with their families and friends, they created Offlining. Offlining is an effort to make people look up from their screen and get away from their devices, to come back to real life.

Our task was to update the campaign and to develop a language that could be expanded and that was flexible enough to be used for different holidays.
